Metra officials this late this afternoon that service was back to normal after a rail repairs at Union Station caused slight delays for commuters using the Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Heritage Corridor and SouthWest Service lines.
Earlier, Amtrak alerted Metra officials about a rail repair at the south end of Union Station. As a precaution, Metra officials are asking commuters to pay close attention to the platforms their trains are on because they may change from what they usually are.
The Burlington Northern line runs from Union Station to Aurora, the Heritage Corridor line runs between Union Station and Joliet, and SouthWest Service runs between Union Station and Manhattan.
A Metra spokeswoman said as of 4:54 p.m., normal service had resumed and there were only minor delays on the Heritage Corridor line. Commuters on that line are being directed to track No. 30, she said.
