Joe Dittmar

Dittmar was meeting on the 105th floor of Tower 2 of the World Trade Center when the first hijacked plane crashed into Tower 1. Dittmar and the other 53 people in the meeting immediately headed for the fire escape. On the way down, most of Dittmar's colleagues stopped, either to survey the damage to Tower 1 or to wait for an elevator, he said. Dittmar, however, kept walking down all 105 flights and then several blocks north of the building. Tower 2 also was struck by a hijacked plane, and both towers later collapsed.
