Her opinion

Maggie Daley, wife of Mayor Richard Daley, is surrounded by media in February 1989 at the Tana restaurant at 5100 N. Broadway in Chicago, asking her opinion on two campaign ads aired by mayoral opponent Mayor Eugene Sawyer. The ads depicted her husband as an inarticulate bumbler who would be in over his head as mayor. Daley commented on the ads during the campaign stop where 100 people gathered to celebrate the first day of the Vietnamese New Year and to greet Daley. He dismissed the ads as "very, very sad" and the sign of a "desperate candidate." Tribune archive
