A 21-year-old man was fatally shot in the West Side's Lawndale neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, and overnight shootings on the South and West sides left five others injured, authorities said.
Police called to the area about 1:30 p.m. after a report of an argument found the 21-year-old shot in the abdomen in the 3900 block of West Grenshaw Street, police said.
Darrien Jordan, who lived in the block where he was shot, was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead at 4 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
No suspects were in custody as of this morning, police said.
In the most recent shooting, a 31-year-old man was shot in the neck about 3 a.m. in the 4200 block of West Jackson Boulevard, police said.
The man was in serious condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Earlier this morning, two 26-year-old men were hurt in a shooting in the 5600 block of South Shields Avenue, police said. Police said the men were standing in a group when they heard shots and felt pain about 1:10 a.m.
One of the men was shot in both legs and an arm, and the other was shot in the leg. Their conditions were stabilized at University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.
About 8:10 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in the back in the South Side's Kenwood neighborhood, police said. The man was in an alley near the 4700 block of South Ingleside Avenue when someone approached on foot and started shooting, police said.
The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
About 8:25 p.m., a 43-year-old man was shot in the leg and the foot as he stood in a backyard in the 8600 block of South Morgan Street, police said.
The man was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, where his condition was stabilized.Copyright © 2015, CT Now
