A 22-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were wounded in separate shootings late Saturday and early today in the Chatham and Gage Park neighborhoods on the South Side.

At 3:05 a.m. the 17-year-old was walking on a sidewalk in the 5200 block of South Rockwell Street on the Southwest Side when someone inside a light-colored car fired shots and hit him in the abdomen, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Alfaro said.

No arrests have been made, Alfaro said.

The 22-year-old man was on the corner of 81st Street and Eberhart Avenue when he heard about six gunshots at 10:40 p.m. Saturday, according to police.

He started running southbound before collapsing in a gangway and realized he'd been shot in the abdomen, according to police.

The victim was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County where his condition, which initially was critical, had stabilized, police said.

A crime scene was found in the 400 block of East 81st Street, where four shell casings were found.

No one has been arrested, Alfaro said.

Area South detectives are investigating.
