Man dies after Tri-State Tollway crash

A 50-year-old man died early this morning following a crash on the Tri-State Tollway near the O’Hare Oasis late Thursday night in Schiller Park.

Andrew Lam, of an unknown address, was pronounced dead at 4:06 a.m. Friday at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

He was behind the wheel of a van that was rear-ended by a sport-utility vehicle about 11:50 p.m. Thursday on northbound I-294 near the O’Hare Oasis and the Irving Park Road exit, according to Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Chadd Brody.

No one else was hurt and Brody declined to release further details immediately about the crash, saying it was still under investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
