A 55-year-old man who was hit by a car on Illinois Route 30 in Chicago Heights Wednesday died Friday afternoon, according to authorities.
An eastbound car hit him near East End Avenue just before 8 p.m. on Feb. 29, according to a news release from the Chicago Heights Police Department.
He was taken to St. James Hospital and Health Centers a couple blocks away and was then airlifted to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
The man, identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as James Jones, was pronounced dead about 4:30 p.m. Friday.
He lived on the 1200 block of East 11th Street in Ford Heights, according to a spokesman for the medical examiner's office.
Chicago Heights police and the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating the crash.
