Death of man hit by car in Bucktown ruled suicide

An autopsy Sunday determined a 35-year-old man who was hit by a car in Bucktown early Saturday morning took his own life, authorities said.

Police said the man may have been kneeling in an intersection about 3:30 a.m. on the 1900 block of Milwaukee Avenue, near its intersection with Western Avenue, when he was hit.

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the man as Enrique Lituma, of the 1400 block of West Augusta Boulevard.

Lituma was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.

An autopsy performed Sunday determined Lituma died of multiple injuries from an automobile striking a pedestrian and his death was ruled a suicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
