An Orland Park man has been charged with felony drunken driving in a crash near Hickory Hills that killed a nurse as she drove to work Sunday mornjing, police said today.
Heidi Roseen, 51, of Lockport, was declared dead at 7:07 a.m. Sunday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Roseen, who initially was taken to Palos Community Hospital, had been headed to Christ Medical Center for work when her car was broadsided at La Grange Road and 95th Street, west of Hickory Hills, about 6:20 a.m. Sunday, said Cook County Sheriff's spokesman Frank Bilecki.
This afternoon, Matthew Senica, 25, of the 13700 block of 88th Avenue in Orland Park, was charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence in the crash, Bilecki said.
Roseen, of the 16900 block of West 143rd Street in Lockport, was driving a Ford Explorer SUV east on 95th Street and entered the intersection with a green light when a Ford 150 pickup driven by Senica and heading south on La Grange Road went through a red light, Bilecki said.
Preliminary accident reconstruction by Cook County Sheriff's police indicate the pickup was going at least 60 mph when it hit the SUV, Bilecki said.
Senica told police he had been drinking since 5 p.m. Saturday, including possibly in Chicago, Bilecki said. He may have been headed home when the crash happened.
State records show Roseen had been a registered nurse in Illinois since 1981.
