After falling one win short of making the NCAA men's volleyball tournament seven times, Loyola is on its way for the first time in program history.
The Ramblers rallied from a 2-1 deficit Saturday night to beat Lewis 3-2 in Romeoville and advance to the Final Four at UCLA.
No. 3 seed Loyola meets No. 2 UC Irvine, the defending champion, in Thursday's semifinals. No. 1 seed champion Brigham Young plays No. 4 Penn State in the other semi. The championship match is Saturday.
The victory over Lewis also gave Loyola (22-9) its first Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association tournament title.
Loyola's Joe Smalzer, a redshirt junior from Marist, won most outstanding player for the tournament. Smalzer had four of his 20 kills in the fifth set, which Loyola won 15-7.
