Levi Kreis, the original Jerry Lee Lewis in "Million Dollar Quartet," is slated to perform at Davenport’s Piano Bar in Chicago.
Kreis, who originated the role of the piano virtuoso Lewis in the Chicago production of "Million Dollar Quartet," went on to win a 2010 Tony Award for best featured actor after the production moved to Broadway. (The show continues to run in Chicago at the Apollo Theater.)
He has since made a career as a recording artist and has a new album due out June 20. (The music may not have much in common with the hits of Sun Records in 1956.) His concert at Davenport's will be 8 p.m. March 2; tickets $25 (plus 2 drink minimum) at 773-278-1830 or davenportspianobar.com.
(Kreis will also be a guest speaker and performer 10:30 a.m. March 3 for services at Unity on the North Shore in Evanston.)
