Leonard Wilk has been named the next president and chief executive of St. Alexius Medical Center, a 339-bed community hospital in Hoffman Estates. In addition to fostering St. Alexius' continued growth, he will further develop patient services to support the new Alexian Brothers Women & Children's Hospital, scheduled to open in April. Wilk, 55, comes to Alexian Brothers Health System after more than 20 years with Aurora Health Care of Milwaukee, where he had was president and chief administrative officer of Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, Wis., since 2010. He earlier led Aurora Health Care hospitals in Sheboygan, Wis., and Milwaukee. He also spent more than four years as vice president, Physician Support & Business Development, for Aurora Health Care. Before that, he was director, Medical Staff Development, at St. Joseph's Hospital & Health Care Center in Chicago, and corporate manager, Physician Support Services, at Franciscan Sisters HealthCare System in Little Falls, Minn. Wilk, who succeeds Ed Goldberg, has a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Illinois Chicago and a master's in health administration at Governors State University.
