Karine Provost has joined the Joffrey Academy of Dance as managing director. Provost will serve as the public face of the Academy through interactions with families and students, members of the Joffrey board of directors and women's board, donors, partner organizations, teachers, principals and school administrators, and other special communities with an interest in the academy. She will oversee the Academy's 20 faculty and 8 accompanists, plus the programming and day-to-day operations of the Academy's dozens of classes in multiple programs, including Children's, Youth and Adult Divisions, Summer Camps and Summer Intensives, Pre-Professional and Trainee Programs. Approximately 700 students take classes at the Joffrey Academy. Provost brings extensive experience managing studio and education programs with dance companies across the country. She arrives as the school of the Joffrey Ballet expands to Los Angeles and pursues expansion to the Chicago suburbs on the near horizon. Provost, 30, worked with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago since 2007, where she served as the Manager of Pre-Professional Programs, creating and overseeing Hubbard Street's Summer Intensive program. She also oversaw day-to-day operations at the Lou Conte Dance Studio. Before that, she was School Manager of The Washington Ballet. Provost has a B.S. in dance and arts administration from Butler University in Indianapolis.
