A 16-year-old girl was abducted near Belmont and Central avenues Thursday morning before breaking free from her attacker near Higgins and Long avenues across from Jefferson Park, Chicago police said.
News affairs officer Ron Gaines said the victim was forced into the back of a four-door burgundy car.
A description of the man wasn't available, Gaines said.
The girl told police the man reached into the back seat at Higgins and Long avenues and "a struggle ensued," Gaines said.
She escaped the car and called police from near Lawrence and Milwaukee avenues, Gaines said.
She was transported to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, Gaines said, where she was treated for her injuries and released.
Notre Dame High School for Girls is blocks from where the victim was abducted. It's not clear if that's where she was heading, Gaines said.
