George R. Mesires , Finance and Restructuring practice co-chair, Ungaretti & Harris

George R. Mesires has been named co-chair of the Finance and Restructuring practice at Ungaretti & Harris. Mesires joined the firm as a partner in 2009. 

Mesires, who concentrates on distressed transactions, restructuring, bankruptcy and finance has been a key driver of the Finance and Restructuring practice.

Mesires will be leading the group with Donald L. Schwartz.

He has been the lead bankruptcy attorney in high-profile insolvency matters, most recently those involving senior living facilities. 

Before joining Ungaretti, Mesires was general counsel of a start-up telecommunications company. Previously he was an Assistant Attorney General in the New York State Attorney General's Office under Eliot Spitzer and Dennis Vacco. 

Mesires is an associate editor of the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal, editor of the ABI Asset Sales Committee Newsletter and a contributor to the Distressed Debt Investing blog.
