Gene Wurth, executive director, American Dental Association Foundation

Gene R. Wurth has been appointed executive director of the American Dental Association Foundation.

Wurth, 60, will manage the the ADA's charitable arm, which secures contributions and provides grants for dental research, education, access to oral health care for underserved populations and assistance for dentists and their families in need.

Wurth most recently was president and chief executive of the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation,  which raised more than $150 million for research and education in his 11-year tenure. Before that, he was assistant dean for development of alumni programs at the University of Illinois College of Law and president and CEO of Provena Covenant Medical Center Foundation in Urbana.

Wurth has a bachelor's degree in English, a law degree and an MBA from the U. of I. at Urbana-Champaign.
