A man was sent to a hospital with serious burn injuries following a blaze that started in a Park West neighborhood high rise building tonight.
The fire in the 42-story building in the 2600 block of North Lakeview Avenue, was brought under control about 8 p.m., said Chicago Fire Department Chief Juan Hernandez.
It started at 7:12 p.m. on the 16th floor of the building and firefighters found a 52-year-old man who was burned, said Hernandez.
The victim was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition, Hernandez said.
The blaze was confined to one room and a still and box alarm and an EMS Plan I, which automatically sends at least five ambulances to the scene, were both secured.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
