The driver of a vehicle that hit and critically injured a man walking to his car in the Bronzeville neighborhood is being questioned in the possibly alcohol-related crash, police said.
The victim, a 38-year-old man, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital following the collision about 12:15 a.m. in the 300 block of East 47th Street, and was in critical condition, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.
The man had been walking to his car when a vehicle pulled away from the curb, crossed traffic lanes, and hit him, Estrada said.
The vehicle that had struck the man then drove off, but Wentworth District officers were able to catch the driver, and he was being questioned in the accident, Estrada said. Alcohol may have been a factor in the hit-and-run, Estrada said.
