Dr. Mark H. Pollack has been appointed chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at Rush Medical College. Pollack's primary clinical and research interests are in the area of anxiety and traumatic stress disorders, including their neurobiology, psychopathology and treatment. He has been a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, director of the Center for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital, program leader for traumatic stress at the Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology and chief medical officer of the Red Sox Foundation-MGH Home Base Program for Veterans. Pollack also is editor-in-chief of the journal CNS Neuroscience and Therapeutics and co-edited "Challenges in Clinical Practice: Pharmacologic and Psychosocial Strategies," "Panic Disorder and Its Treatment," "Social Phobia: Research and Practice" and "Ten Minute CBT." He received his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School and completed his residency in psychiatry at Massachusetts General, where he had spent his career until coming to Rush.
