Outfielder Billy Williams

Outfielder <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PESPT007923" title="Billy Williams" href="/topic/sports/baseball/billy-williams-PESPT007923.topic">Billy Williams</a> doffed his cap to the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLTRA0000169" title="Wrigley Field" href="/topic/sports/baseball/wrigley-field-PLTRA0000169.topic">Wrigley Field</a> crowd after receiving a trophy marking his 896th consecutive game, a National league record on June 29, 1967. Williams was a six-time all-star, the 1961 <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="15007002" title="National League" href="/topic/sports/baseball/national-league-15007002.topic">National League</a> Rookie of the Year and was only the second Cub to have his number retired. Williams was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1987.
