Gambled and lost

The White Sox opted for an "All In" approach that saw them re-sign Paul Konerko and add reluctant DH Adam Dunn to their fragile mix. They stumbled to an 11-22 start, Dunn hit an unthinkable .159 and they finished 79-83, giving them a 440-445 record since the All-Star break, 2006. After the season, they allowed cornerstone pitcher Mark Buehrle to leave as a free agent because they had committed heavily to Dunn, Jake Peavy and Alex Rios for 2012.
