Chris Hine is a sports writer for the Chicago Tribune, covering the Blackhawks. Hine previously covered football and men's basketball at Illinois and Notre Dame prior to becoming the Blackhawks beat writer starting with the 2015-16 season. Prior to the Tribune, Hine served as a sports writing intern at the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times after graduating from Notre Dame in 2009. Hine's father, Chet, coached men's basketball for 33 seasons at Bishop Hoban High School in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and was one of the winningest coaches in Pennsylvania upon his exit from coaching. Hine is a self-described pop music and TV aficionado and when he's not watching sports, you might find him playing Carole King songs on his piano or writing his own admittedly mediocre songs.
