The Joffrey Ballet presents the passion and drama of "Othello" through movement and a musical score by Oscar winner Elliot Goldenthal, performed by the Chicago Philharmonic. The production is an encore of the heralded 2009 performance of Lar Lubovitch's choreographed telling of the Venetian Moor's tragic story.
Why go: The program celebrates the 70th birthday of Lubovitch.
Reconsider: You like your Shakespeare with a little more contemporary twist, like the Q Brother's production at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, "Othello: The Remix." (Runs through April 28; 312-595-5800 or chicagoshakes.com for more information)
Wednesday through May 5 at Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress Parkway; $31-$152; 800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com
