• A driver has been charged with DUI after he lost control of his SUV and rolled over in DuPage County, killing an 18-year-old high school student riding with him, police said. The 2003 Ford Explorer was heading south on Shaffner Road near Mack Road around 10:30 p.m. Thursday when it left the road, police said. Police closed Shaffner Road in both directions for five hours overnight. Sheriff's officials said the accident happened in unincorporated Wheaton. Read more
A 26-year-old man has died four days after someone ran him down with a car in the Princeton Park neighborhood on the South Side, authorities said. Andrew Prather died at 4:30 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He was struck around 1:50 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of West 91st Street. A 41-year-old man was shot in the West Garfield Park neighborhood early Friday morning. He was shot him in the leg around 1 a.m. in the 300 block of North Cicero Avenue. The man "heard shots and felt pain," police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. Read more
