A 52-year-old Chicago man has been ordered held without bail after being charged with killing his two roommates Friday on the South Side, police said today.
Michael Myrieckes, of the 6500 block of South Kenwood avenue,was charged with two counts of first degree murder charges in the shooting deaths of Mario Tempana-Vena, 69, and Lorrie Heidrick, 48, who were originally identified by the aliases, Lori Inman and Avelino Sanchez in the home they shared in the Woodlawn neighborhood, police said.
The incident happened about 9:30 p.m. Friday. He was ordered held without bail today.
Officers were called to the scene by a friend of the suspect, and when they arrived, the suspect refused to come out of the home and a hostage-barricade situation was declared, according to police.
About 30 minutes later the man was arrested and after that, police discovered the man and woman dead inside the home.
An autopsy on Saturday determined that the victims died after each sustained shotgun wounds to their chest. In addition to the shotgun wounds, Sanchez was also shot in the neck and Inman sustained multiple gunshot wounds, according to the autopsy.
