A Chicago man was pronounced dead early Saturday morning after a motorcycle accident near Washington Park on the city's South Side.
According to preliminary reports, the 42-year-old man's motorcycle hit a curb on the 5300 block of South Payne Drive shortly after midnight, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
The man was officially identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as Frederick Chinagozi, of the 12800 block of South Amerald Avenue. Officials had earlier said the man was from south suburban Calumet City.
The victim was thrown into the grass of Washington Park where he struck a tree, and shortly after was taken to the University of Chicago Hospitals, where he was pronounced dead, Mirabelli said, citing preliminary reports.
