Brenda Wolf has been named president and chief executive of La Rabida Children's Hospital. Wolf, the hospital's chief operating officer since 2006, brings more than 20 years of corporate leadership, government relations and advocacy experience to her new role at the 49-bed pediatric specialty hospital on the South Side. As CEO, Wolf will lead the hospital dedicated to serving children regardless of their ability to pay; it is thus the most Medicaid-dependent hospital in the state. As COO she helped launch an electronic medical record system, a wireless patient monitoring system and a forthcoming outpatient wing. In addition, La Rabida has been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance for its home programs. She joined La Rabida 1988 as marketing director and was promoted to vice president, overseeing government relations and building projects among other things. Wolf replaces Dr. Paula Kienberger Jaudes, who is taking a one-year sabbatical, part of which she will spend establishing a sickle cell anemia program in Nigeria. Jaudes had led the hospital since 1996. Wolf has an MBA with concentrations in health administration and marketing from the University of Chicago, an M.A. in special education from West Virginia University and a B.S. from the University of Illinois.
