Our club formed about nine years ago as a neighborhood group (in Lake Forest). Over the years, we have expanded our boundaries.
We meet about every six weeks in each other's homes and often match our food and decor to the theme of the book. We average 15 members at a meeting.
We loved "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett for its vivid imagery and historical perspective. We look forward to seeing the movie.
One selection that received mixed reviews was "The Kitchen House" by Kathleen Grissom. It was given very high ratings and very low ratings, but our groups' differing opinions always make for an interesting discussion.
Books we've enjoyed: "Memoirs of a Geisha" by Arthur Golden, "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini, "The Other Boleyn Girl" by Philippa Gregory.
The current month's hostesses choose the next book we will read. We are reading "Russian Winter" by Daphne Kalotay.
