MD-80

The MD-80 was certified for flight by the the Federal Aviation Administration in August 1980 and entered airline service in October of that year. It was in production for a little over nine years. American Airlines once held the largest fleet of MD-80s at 275. It now has 190 of the planes, and eventually plans to replace all of them with more fuel efficient models.
