Dr. Margaret Burroughs in 2004. She founded, along with her husband, Charles, a museum for black history in her home and eventually grew it into DuSable Museum of African American History in Chicago. These days you can catch Dr. Burroughs, who was a long time CPS teacher, riding the bus to the grocery store and events in her south side neighborhood. When she arrives to speak to groups, she brings prints of her artwork to hand out, even though her prints are sold for hundreds of dollars.
