A 3-week old boy was dropped off this afternoon at a West Englewood neighborhood fire station, according to the fire department.
Someone left the child at Engine 101's quarters at 2236 W. 69th St. about 4:45 p.m., according to the Chicago Fire Department.
The baby, a 3-week-old boy, was taken in good condition to Holy Cross Hospital, according to the fire department.
Illinois passed its safe haven law in 2001. That law offers parents the option to relinquish a newborn, up to 30 days old, at any hospital, emergency medical facility or staffed fire or police station -- no questions asked. Mothers can remain anonymous.
The fire department had no further information tonight.
