Career nears end

Babe Ruth, as a member of the Boston Braves, sat in the Wrigley Field dugout with manager Bill McKechnie on May 20, 1935. Less than two weeks later, at the manager's insistence, the Braves gave Ruth his unconditional release. It was the end of his 22-year career. Tribune archive photo
