WWE announced Monday that the “Breaking Bad” star and Lolla regular will host “Monday Night Raw” March 3 at Allstate Arena. Paul will promote his film, “Need for Speed,” which hits theaters March 14. And judging by past celebrity hosts, including Betty White and Michael Strahan, Paul likely will welcome the crowd, maybe assign a match or two and take part in backstage sketches.
Rarely do the hosts ever get their hands dirty, though Jeremy Piven, to his credit, did jump off the top rope to attack WWE Superstar John Cena in 2009. It almost made up for the fact that Piven referred to WWE’s “Summer Slam” pay per view as “Summerfest.”
Paul can expect a more hostile crowd than usual at Allstate Arena. Chicago's CM Punk reportedly quit WWE last month out of frustration with the company. Many fans -- especially those in his hometown -- blame WWE even though it was Punk's decision.
