A new theater festival set for Three Oaks, Michigan

A new summer enterprise, the Three Oaks Theatre Festival, aims to bring single-performance engagements of hit Chicago theater productions to to this small Michigan town, known for its artistic community and close connection to Chicago.

Founded by John Stoops, Tim Evans and Marc Grapey, the inaugural season of the festival, staged at the Acorn Theatre in Three Oaks, will consist of "The Selfish Giant" by Blair Thomas & Co. (July 6), the critically acclaimed Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co, production of Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie" (July 20) and the TurnAround Theatre's production of "The Faith Healer" by Brian Friel (July 27).

The festival also plans to staged the world premiere of "Complicated," a new musical by Poi Dog Pondering.  The intension is to expand the schedule in future summers.
