A third person has died after being injured in a fire that killed a husband and wife at their home in Naperville in December.
Allen Belaguas, 21, of the 9100 block of Franklin Court, in Orland Park, was pronounced dead at a Rainbow Hospice facility at 5:35 p.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Belaguas had been caring for the couple who died in the fire in the 1200 block of Field Court early Dec. 18, Thomas Lambert, 57, and Janet Lambert, 56, who died in the fire, according to news reports at the time.
An 84-year-old man and 56-year-old woman also were taken to the hospital, but their injuries were not life-threatening. Belaguas was treated first at Edward Hospital, then at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
About 10 minutes after their arrival, firefighters were forced to evacuate the home because of the danger of collapse, and found the Lamberts' bodies in the basement after the second floor collapsed into the basement.
The Lamberts' deaths were determined to be acicdental, and the fire was not believed to have been suspicious.
