A 61-year-old man found unresponsive in southwest suburban Burbank died of hypothermia due to cold exposure, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
James S. Nanfeldt was found late Monday afternoon lying in a wooded area near 75th and Narragansett in Burbank, according to the Burbank Police Department and the medical examiner's office.
Nanfeldt's death was caused by hypothermia with heart disease a contributing factor, according to the medical examiner's office. His death was ruled an accident.
According to a release from the Burbank police, Nanfeldt was homeless and had no children. "Thoughts and prayers go out to this man's surviving family," the release said.
Nanfedlt is the 28th cold-related death in Cook County this winter.
