'Post Tenebras Lux'

Directed by Carlos Reygadas

At the Cannes this year, two films in particular -- "Holy Motors" and this one -- played with audience's expectations and confounded their perceptions. The cinema lives! Reygadas' story (though hardly a conventional one) of a prosperous family, a cooling marriage, class warfare and the glories of nature ends with an outlandish act of self-destruction. See it, and you still won't believe it.
