Bash on Wabash
The South Loop brings the party to the streets -- well, one street, Wabash Avenue -- for the "Bash on Wabash: Sweet Corn Chicago." For the real kids, there are carnival games, bounce houses and magicians. And for big kids, there are bean bag tournaments, sumo wrestling and mechanical bulls. And for the kernel-loving, there are mounds of fresh-roasted corn on the cob. The music portion of the Bash, which started as a sort-of block party by a few residents eight years ago, is sponsored by Reggies and has just as eclectic a lineup as the venue's weekly schedule of rock, rap and alternative music.
Why go: You keep meaning to check out this vibrant and changing neighborhood, so ...
Reconsider: You didn't know there was anything south of Congress Parkway.
