Plan ahead: Hugh Laurie
Hugh Laurie is turning his talents to music with New Orleans blues, the "raison d'etre" driving his efforts. The "House" star's debut CD, "Let Them Talk" is also a means to celebrate what he considers a neglected music. And, he got some legends of this genre to join him on "Let Them Talk," including Irma Thomas ("Soul Queen of New Orleans"), Allen Toussaint, Tom Jones and Dr. John.
Why go: In his bio, Laurie confesses to being "a white, middle-class Englishman, openly trespassing on the music and myth of the American south" and has no answer for why you should listen to an actor's music. But that honesty translates to his music and is worth a trip to hear him live.
Reconsider: Laurie performs live with the Copper Bottom Band, not Toussaint, Jones, Dr. John and Thomas.
