An overweight hip-hop star is nothing new (see: Notorious BIG, Big Punisher and Fat Joe, to name a few). But one who can cook a fat meal, then lay down rhymes to match is something to chew on. Enter Queens native Action Bronson, a gourmet chef in his previous lifetime and one of the, ahem, bigger breakout acts of the year. He will head to the heart of Wrigleyville, sampling from his recent "Dr. Lector" album and "Blue Chips" mix tape, released earlier this year. Opening is a pair of local acts: Hip-hop duo The Palmer Squares (coming off their own recent release, "Spooky Language") and R&B/soul/jazz do-it-alls Sidewalk Chalk.
9 p.m. Saturday at Cubby Bear, 1059 W Addison St.; $13-15 (21 and over); cubbybear.com
