Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade
This is the big 'un. It's tradition born in the days of the late Mayor Richard J. Daley -- a march that is preceded by dumping gallons of green dye into the Chicago River. If being the biggest means also being the best, then this is it.
Why go: Parades are always cool, but this is one of the city's best.
Reconsider: Revelers getting a head start on the night's excesses might show up.
