It's hard being an "American Idol." So much is expected of them as they shoulder their way into an industry already full of talented people. The other burden is the hype. These people are, after all, hand-picked for fame by regular old Americans, right? So Season 9 runner-up Crystal Bowersox came out with an album called "Farmer's Daughter" that, like most "Idol" albums, did OK. Now the struggle becomes to make a career out of this music business.
Why go: Bowersox's big voice and strong songs are still there, even if the hype isn't any longer.
Reconsider: Some people are rather averse to pop cultural phenoms, right?
