Two teenage boys were shot and seriously wounded in the Avalon Park neighborhood this evening, authorities said.
The two teens, one 14, one 15, were shot in the 1300 block of East 80th Street, near Kimbark Avenue, about 6:48 p.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
The two were walking westbound from Kenwood Avenue and passed a group of males before hearing gunfire, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
The incident appears gang related, he said, and the two didn't see who fired the shots.
One was shot in both legs and the other was shot in one leg, Alfaro said.
The 14-year-old was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in serious-to-critical condition from near Kenwood Avenue and 80th Street, and the other victim was taken in serious-to-critical condition from near Kimbark and 80th to Advocate Christ Medical Center, said Chief Joe Roccasalva, a spokesman for the Chicago Fire Department.
The Fire Department has the ages of the victims preliminarily listed as 14 and 13.Copyright © 2015, CT Now
