Lake Michigan Financial Corp., parent company of The Bank of Northern Michigan and The Bank of Holland, recently announced the promotion of Garth Deur to serve as its president.
In his new role, Deur will continue to be responsible for all major operational functions plus management for both banks, thereby enhancing client services at all levels. John Paul, President of The Bank of Northern Michigan and Rob Dwortz, the new President of The Bank of Holland, report directly to Deur.
Deur joined The Bank of Holland in 2006 and has been The Bank of Holland’s president since 2008, as well as the chief operating officer of Lake Michigan Financial. He has had an extensive career working for organizations such as Arthur Anderson, Prince Corp. and Gentex in Michigan. Deur earned an undergraduate degree from Calvin College and a graduate degree from Grand Valley State University.
Lake Michigan Financial Corp. was established to operate The Bank of Holland which opened in October 1998 in Holland, Mich., and The Bank of Northern Michigan which opened in 2000 in Petoskey and more recently added a Traverse City office.
