Electric Boat -- January 2010

Company officials at submarine manufacturer Electric Boat, a subsidiary of General Dynamics Corp.,  said on Jan. 29, 2010, that the company  has notified 434 employees they will be laid off because of a downturn in work. The company said that the hourly production and production-support workers at the Groton shipyard will receive a formal 60-day notice before their jobs are eliminated in April.
