HARTFORD — Jon Hitchcock has been named vice president and general manager of WTIC-TV and WCCT-TV, Tribune Broadcasting announced Monday. He starts April 6.

Hitchcock will be in charge of strategic planning and daily operations for WTIC, a Fox affiliate, and WCCT, a CW affiliate.

He will report to Lynda King, chief operating officer of Tribune Broadcasting, a part of Tribune Media.

“Jon is the perfect fit for these stations, as well as the Hartford and New Haven communities,” King said. “We look forward to his leadership and commitment to our employees, partners and viewers.”

Hitchcock is a Connecticut native and a broadcast veteran from the state. He spent 17 years at WTNH-TV and WCTX-TV in New Haven. Recently, he was a president and general manager of KYW-TV and WPSG-TV, the CBS stations in Philadelphia.

Hitchcock replaces Chris Geiger, who resigned in December after less than a year on the job.

The TV station is in the same building as The Hartford Courant although they are no longer part of the same company. At one time, both were owned by Tribune, and called CT1 Media, but the corporation spun off the Courant and its other newspapers into a separate company, called Tribune Publishing Co.
