Pictures: Bevin Bell Factory
The 180-year-old factory was destroyed by fire on May 29, 2012. Since then, Bevin and his employees have been working out of temporary quarters in a former bottle factory at 17 Watrous Street, not far from where the factory stood. Bevin Bells also made the first bell used on a bicycle and a car; plus, they made bells for the Good Humor ice cream trucks, the bell aboard the USS Maine, the bell used in Joe Louis' championship fight, the New York Stock Exchange bell and the bell Frank Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life."

Bevin Bell
Bevin Brothers Manufacturing is back up and running, scrambling to make as many bells as it can this week for the Salvation Army as Matt Bevin as his office staff work to fulfill the orders. The historic company's factory was destroyed by fire on Memorial Day and was almost finished with this year's order for the kettle bellringers. Some were destroyed but much of the order was stolen by looters.
