Local action sports hero Travis Pastrana will be returning to Baltimore.
An Annapolis native, Pastrana will bring his 2,000-pound monster truck to the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam at M&T Bank Stadium on July 9.
"I've always been a huge fan of Monster Jam and have enjoyed driving the trucks whenever I can," Pastrana said in a news release. "With close to 2,000 horsepower, Monster Jam is sheer excitement."
Pastrana will be driving the Nitro Circus truck named after his MTV reality show. His good friend, Cam McQueen usually drives the truck, but Pastrana takes over for McQueen several times a year.
"Honestly, though, I just want to get as much experience as I can and try to do my best every time I am in the truck," Pastrana said.
Pastrana finished fifth in freestyle at the 2009 Monster Jam World Finals. Sixteen trucks will compete in the event at M&T Bank Stadium..
The 27-year old veteran began his career racing motocross, but has been on a tour of racing, including rally, NASCAR and now monster trucks.
He is also considered the most accomplished athlete in X-Games history, nabbing 14 medals overall with seven golds. His most memorable Games moment might have been this past year, when Pastrana successfully landed a double backflip – when he already had a comfortable lead – to win the Moto X Freestyle gold.
