City shootings leave one dead, another seriously wounded

Two shootings in the city Tuesday have left one man dead and another critically wounded.

A 22-year-old man was shot multiple times in the torso shortly before 6 p.m. in the 4800 block of Northwood Drive near Winston Avenue in Govans. Police said the victim was approached on the street by an unidentified man who fired at him with a handgun. The victim remains in serious condition at an area hospital.

At 10:05 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 4100 block of Norfolk Ave. in the Forest Park area. They found a 59-year-old man, unresponsive and bleeding from the chest, as he sat on the front porch of the home. The victim was taken to Sinai Hospital, where he died at 10:42 p.m.
