A 22-year-old Severn man has been charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder in a shooting in Odenton, after police spotted him driving out of the area late Tuesday night, Anne Arundel County Police said Wednesday.
Andrew Gary Neale, 22, of the 1700 block of Sea Pine Circle, also faces several other charges, including for robbery, assault and the possession of marijuana, police said.
Officers had first responded to the 700 block of Chapelview Drive in Odenton about 9:15 p.m. for a report of a shooting and found three victims: A 23-year-old Odenton man who had been shot in a lower extremity; a 30-year-old Gambrills man with minor injuries to his upper body, possibly from bullet fragments; and an uninjured 22-year-old Odenton woman.
They told police that three men had approached them outside, two of them with handguns, and demanded their property, police said. At some point during the robbery, the gunfire occurred, police said.
The 23-year-old was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, while the 30-year-old man was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center, police said. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
While police were on the scene, a vehicle was stopped near the intersection of Chapelgate Drive and Waugh Chapel Road, and the driver — Neale — was arrested for possession of marijuana, police said.
Further investigation led police to charge Neale in the shooting as well.
He now faces three counts each of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and other related charges, in addition to the marijuana possession charge.
Police have not released his booking photograph because the investigation is ongoing, they said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 410-222-6155.
